Mesfin Fikru began his career in the aviation industry in 1976 as an aircraft maintenance technician with Ethiopian Airlines. After serving for two years, he decided to continue his studies and joined the University of Transport and Communication in Czechoslovakia and graduated from the University of Transport and Communication with M.Sc. Degree in Air Transport Engineering in 1982, specializing in Operation and Economics of air transport.
Mesfin had worked in the Flight Safety department of the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority (ECAA) for over 16 years and was a holder of a private pilot’s license. He later rejoined the Ethiopian Airlines in 1999 as an Avionics Senior instructor in the Multi-National Aviation Training Center.
In 2005, Mesfin Fikru was appointed as DGCA of Ethiopia and led the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority until he joined AFCAC in 2009. He had worked in AFCAC as Air Safety Officer and Safety and Technical Services Director. Mesfin is currently AFRI Partner.
