AFRI Aviation Plc. operates under a special aviation consultancy license given in Ethiopia for the first time and registered under Registration No. MTA/AA/2/0024247/2006 with its head office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

AFRI Aviation Plc.’s main objective is to provide a range of consultancy services in the aviation field with a particular focus on African aviation. The company is headquartered in Addis Ababa and in due course it plans to have branch offices, affiliate companies or representations in strategic locations throughout Africa and the Middle-East Region.

Getaneh Desta
Getaneh Desta

is one of the founding members of AFRI Aviation Plc. and a Senior Partner at the firm. Getaneh holds a diploma in Airline Marketing and Finance, a BA degree in Economics and an MBA in Leadership & Sustainability. Getaneh is currently the Managing Director of AFRI Aviation & Tourism Training Center based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Getaneh’s association with the airline industry started when he joined Ethiopian Airlines in 1984. At Ethiopian Airlines, after serving in various non-management positions, Getaneh led the Ethiopian Airlines Revenue Management team and was then appointed to the position of Manager Marketing Automation. Getaneh’s final assignment in Ethiopian airlines prior to his departure was as Director of Customer Services.

After leaving Ethiopian Airlines, Getaneh joined SITA, the multinational information technology company providing IT and telecommunication services to the air transport industry, as their GETS Field Support Manager for Africa and later as the GETS Regional Manager for Africa and Middle East. Getaneh then joined the SITA Sales and Marketing team for Africa and held various sales and account management positions culminating in him serving as Sales Director Anglophone Africa. Following this, Getaneh was promoted to the position of Head of Communication Services Integration for Middle East & Africa. He then served as Vice President Communication Services Business Unit for Africa region with full P & L responsibility until the dissolution of the Africa region. Following the new regional restructuring of SITA, Getaneh served SITA as a Strategic Business Development Director.

 

During his many years with Ethiopian Airlines and SITA, Getaneh had participated in and contributed to various international and regional forums.
